THE PLACE TO FIND OUT JUST WHAT THE HECK EVERYONE IS TALKING ABOUT!
Do you remember your first H.O.G® experience? I certainly do. I came away having all kinds of questions about poker runs, state rallies, MDA events, H.O.G® rides and more. The only answers I got were when I asked the questions. Welcome to the answers.
WHAT IS A POKER RUN?
A poker run is an event set up by an individual or group of people that requires you to travel from one location to another and collect proof that you were there. Most have a fee and the money often goes to a charity. It could be held within your dealership, travelling to different departments or could have you hopping on your motorcycle and riding to different attractions or restaurants in your area. The proof that you were there can be a stamp, a card, or a business card. Once you have been to all of your stops you return to a home base. Here there are various options. Some people use actual cards, one for each stop, to create the best poker hand. Others have you turn in a stamp or token to determine how many cards you get. Still others have a punch card sealed in an envelope. With these you punch 5 spots with a hole punch, open the envelope, and reveal your hand. A poker walk is similar, but you travel on foot. For a fun run, the rules are the same, but winners are drawn randomly. Regardless of how it is done, poker runs are a fun way to see the area you are in.
WHAT IS A STATE H.O.G® RALLY?
A State Rally is a Harley-Davidson® Motor Company event that is held by a state(or states). They are planned by volunteer H.O.G® members for H.O.G® members to provide the opportunity to celebrate Harley-Davidson® motorcycle ownership. It gives members the opportunity to gather and enjoy road stories and ride together. You are given the chance to take a journey to a place you’ve never been, or to experience it with a different group of people. New friends and adventures will await you at every turn of your journey. Rallies vary in size and type, and there is one to fit your style. Do you like to ride? Try a riding rally that travels from location to location. Do you like to play games? Find one that is stationary that focuses on the activities you like. Wherever your road takes you, you will find a State Rally that meets your needs.
WHAT IS A NATIONAL H.O.G® RALLY?
A National Rally is like a State Rally in many ways, but there are differences. National H.O.G® Rallies are limited to a few per year, are staffed and planned by H.O.G®, and are able to provide different types of opportunities for those that attend. Check out your H.O.G® Magazine for upcoming opportunities. Don’t delay your decision to attend, some are limited in numbers.
