Start from Gateway Harley-Davidson

3600 Lemay Ferry Rd, St. Louis, MO 63125

From Gateway Harley-Davidson, turn left onto Lemay Ferry Rd heading southwest. Continue for 5.7 miles, pass by Jiffy Lube and Chick-fil-a on your left in Arnold, MO, and turn right onto MO-141 N. Continue for 0.9 miles. Use the left 2 lanes to turn left onto Old Lemay Ferry Rd. Continue for 1.3 miles and take a slight left onto Richardson Rd at the fork in the road. Continue on Richardson Rd for 0.9 miles and turn right onto Vogel Rd, past the Circle K and McDonald's on the left. At the following intersection, take a left turn onto W Outer Rd. In 2.5 miles you will find our first stop at the Mastodon State Historic Site on your right. 


Mastodon State Historic Site

Here, fossils of mastodons and other extinct animals were discovered in the early 19th century. It is also the location where scientists discovered the first solid evidence of humans and mastodons coexisting in eastern North America. The site includes a museum, artifacts, a mastodon replica, along with picnic sites and hiking trails if you want to stretch your legs.

After turning right and heading south onto W Outer Rd, continue for half a mile before turning left onto Old Antonia Rd. Stay to the left at the fork to continue on Old Antonia Rd. At the stop sign, turn right and continue for 1.7 miles until coming to a stop sign and turning right onto Old State Rd M. 

Continue 3 miles to arrive at a four-way stop sign in Antonia, MO, and turn left onto Old Lemay Ferry Rd. Continue for 6 miles and you will find Sandy Creek Bridge along with a parking lot. 


Sandy Creek Bridge

The Sandy Creek Bridge is one of Missouri's four remaining historical covered bridges. It is open to pedestrian traffic only but is a short walk away from the parking lot. Bring your phone or camera because the iconic red bridge is a great location to take photos.

We will head back on Old Lemay Ferry Rd and turn left onto Goldman Spur Rd, and turn left again onto Old Missouri 21. Continue straight 4 miles and you will be in Hillsboro, MO where you will find a Casey's and several restaurants to choose from. 


Saucy's Pizzeria

If you're in the mood for pizza, stop in and grab a bite at Saucy's Pizzeria. As you continue down Business 21, Saucy's Pizzeria will be on the right side of the road. Their pizza is made from scratch daily, and they also serve hamburgers and fresh oven-fried jumbo wings.

From Saucy's Pizzeria, turn right and continue south on MO-21 S. Continue for 14 miles. You will see signs for Washington State Park on your right. 



Washington State Park

Washington State Park spans over 2,100 acres. There are hiking trails, ancient rock carvings, scenic overlooks, and campgrounds available. The park is typically open 7:00 AM to sunset year-round.
